Land-Based Learning Centers

A multi-generational educational approach to promoting on-farm sustainable agriculture in
Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

Projects

Students and farmers have teamed up to work on sustainable agriculture issues through on-farm projects. Students take an active role in problem solving, learning about the food system, and discovering careers in agriculture.
Soil Health - Superior Central Schools - Log Cabin Livestock
Invasive Species - Chassell Township Schools - Gierke Blueberry Farm
Pest Management - JKL Bahweting Anishnabe School - Waishkey Bay Farm
Developing New Markets - Carney-Nadeau High School - Brock Dairy Farm
Composting - Iron Mountain High School - Slagle's Family Farm
Community Supported Agriculture - Luther L Wright High School - Taiga Farm and Vineyard
